Bubba Pollard
Home: Senoia, GA
Birthday: March 16th, 1987
Andrew “Bubba” Pollard is the epitome of the phrase, “racing in his veins.” Pollard’s grandfather, Hence Pollard, built and managed Senoia Speedway, a 3/8 mile dirt oval in Pollard’s hometown of Senoia, Georgia, up until his death. Pollard’s father, Sonny, also helped immerse his son into the sport as he spent some time behind the wheel, winning many races at their home track. Growing up just beyond the tree-line of the track, Pollard spent most of his childhood around the short track. After his grandfather’s death, the track was sold and paved into “The Fastest 3/8 Asphalt Oval in Georgia” and as soon as he was of age, Bubba Pollard began taking part in the racing activities going on just around the corner from his home.
Pollard got his first taste of racing competition in the local bicycle races. He built and won with his own two-wheeled racing machine. From there, Pollard progressed through the ranks of Legends Cars and then into Late Models.
From 1999 to 2001, Pollard amassed over 50 Legend Car wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Watermelon Capital Speedway and Senoia Speedway. Then, in 2002, Pollard stepped into the seat of a Pro Late Model at Senoia Speedway where he went to victory lane six times and was crowned the track champion.
2003 marked Pollard’s first year in Super Late Models. He stepped out of his comfort zone and began traveling with the Southern All Stars series. In 2004, he racked up two Southern All Stars victories at South Alabama Speedway and Lanier National Speedway as well as a 100-lap main event victory at Montgomery Motor Speedway.
In 2005, Pollard took part in Roush Racing’s “Gong Show,” or “Driver X” as it appeared on the Discovery Channel. Pollard competed against 25 of the best driver’s in the country for a shot in one of the “Big Three Series” with NASCAR dynasty, Roush Racing.
Following his stint on the hit reality show, Pollard made three ARCA Racing Series starts in 2005 for Tri-State Motorsports as a teammate to Frank Kimmel. Pollard out-qualified the nine-time series champion in all three starts, once at Kentucky Motor Speedway and twice at Michigan International Speedway. He finished 20th, 11th and 28th respectively.
Pollard also returned to victory lane at South Alabama Speedway in 2005, as well as Montgomery Motor Speedway in Super Late Model events and posted at win in the Georgia Asphalt Series at Watermelon Capital Speedway.
In 2006, Pollard continued to focus on his successes in the Georgia Asphalt Series and grabbed three wins that season, two at Peach State Speedway and one at Anderson Motor Speedway, while he solidified his place as a contender in the Georgia-based series. Pollard posted two more series wins in 2007 at Peach State Speedway and his home track of Senoia Speedway.
When 2008 came around, Pollard was ready for a challenge as he branched out into new territory. He was met with success when he took the checkered flag three more times in the final season of the GAS series at Peach State Speedway and Watermelon Capital Speedway and in Super Late Model competition in the Blizzard Series at Five Flags Speedway and in Miller Lite Series competition at Mobile International Speedway.
Pollard teamed up with recently-retired short track veteran Ronnie Sanders for the 2009 season. He stepped into the seat of Sanders’ familiar #18 and hasn’t looked back since. Together the team won 12 races in the ’09 season, including the Pro Rattler 125 at South Alabama Speedway, CRA South event at Watermelon Capital Speedway, two Miller Lite Series races at Mobile International Speedway, one Blizzard Series 100-lap event at Five Flags Speedway, all five Viper Series shows at South Alabama Speedway, a 100-lap Pro Late Model event at Five Flags Speedway and the Lee Fields Memorial at Mobile International Speedway. The team took both the South Alabama Viper Series and Mobile International Speedway Miller Lite Series titles in 2009.
When 2010 arrived, they were poised for yet another record breaking season. Pollard posted nine late model victories in 2010 around the southeast region. Pollard claimed the Ice Cold Shrine Bowl at Lanier National Speedway, four Viper Series events and the Alabama 200 at South Alabama Speedway, one Blizzard Series race at Five Flags Speedway as well as a Miller Lite Series show and the Lee Fields Memorial at Mobile International Speedway. Pollard also took the Gresham Motorsports Park Super Late Model title in 2010 without ever making the trip to victory lane at the newly remodeled track previously known as Peach State Speedway.
2011 was a dream season for Bubba Pollard as he won a total of 19 races, the Gulf Coast Championship, Miller Lite Series title, Viper Series title, and the CRA South title. Just about everywhere Pollard went he won or was in the mix for the win. Pollard won all five races in the Miller Lite Series at Mobile Int'l Speedway (AL) The biggest win of the season came in the Beau Slocumb Memorial 100 at Gresham Motorsports Park (GA) in November. The season ended with Pollard breaking the 31-year-old track record at the 44th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway.
Pollard will once again be strong in 2012 and will strive to find victory lane more often.
